Governor Jan Brewer: The Worst of the Worst
11:06 PM
|
When I think about some of the real winners that we've had as Governor in Arizona, I have to say, I do like Governor Jan Brewer the least. That's really saying something.
Mecham was just a dunderhead. Fife was at least fun (and still is) at parties. I've been Facebook un-friended by good friends in real life just for stating my opinion about Governor Brewer around the time when she was trying to deny those in need of organ transplants. These people had always been able to get the organs before. She is a destructive and divisive force, like GW was.
Enough of Arizona. I've been here over 30 years, and that's way too long for any military brat. I'm relocating to the east coast in a month and a half. If any of you Arizonans really give a $hit about AZ, you'll consider getting yourselves a new governor, and stop writing her a pass just because she's keeping you safe from the people who want to cut your lawn and sell you tamales.

We are not Pepsi, we are not Walmart...We ARE the US Government

Anyone who has argued with a conservative more than once, has likely been inundated with a stream of dialogue which is built upon a premise from former president Reagan, that "government" is the basis to all our current problems.
Nothing could be further from the truth. government. is a tool of our own making. We can either make it into a tool which cuts our fingers off the minute we turn it on, or we can make it as elegant a tool to help us solve our problems as we we are willing to invest time and honest consideration. That govt. has morphed into a two-headed beast that has devoured many a nation shouldn't be at all surprising. Govt. is the fire from Prometheus, we can use it to our benefit or to our own demise.
Government is US. WE are government. We are not Pepsi, we are not Walmart, but we ARE our govt. and the tools we fashion in its design. And to relegate our entire political process to a stupid team wrestling sport, using the likes of Fox News and Rush Limbaugh as cheerleaders is a crying shame.

Jobs with Dignity
11:56 PM
|
The reason we currently have no jobs with dignity is because large business executives can do just about anything they want. You may be one of the lucky ones who has a job in an operation where they treat you like a human being. I wasn't so lucky, but like a slowly-boiling frog, I didn't even know what was happening when I worked for "Sweathouse Intel" for 23 years. They had zero loyalty to me and allowed my manager to smear my reputation before wrongfully terminating me. If you think I should have sued, think again. Most of Intel's legendary legal staff spends their time fighting former employees, rather than pursuing patent litigation these days.
Large businesses today are kingdoms. CEO's are Kings and Queens. When a politician says that he will run our nation like a business, beware. That means he plans to be king. So as king he will run our country like a monarchy. Is that what you want??? I didn't think so.
My feeling is that once companies reach a certain size, and so much is riding on all the jobs they provide, we need to regulate them and take some power away from these executives. Why should they be allowed to be kings? We were supposed to get rid of that king and queen and lord and lady shit when we left sunny England as a people looking for freedom..

Actual excerpt from a Facebook debate...

Taken from an actual Facebook debate. Identities were hidden to protect the innocent and probably also the ignorant. Sometimes there is a perfect moment. Sometimes that perfect moment occurs on Facebook.

Get to Know Mitt

When I was a corporate slave video producer at InHell Corp, I remember making a couple of talking-head videos about Bain Capital, and how they were going to escort a couple of our spin-offs into happy, healthy retirement pastures.
I was too worried about lighting and audio to realize that this project manager was handing Bain the keys to these treasure chests, and that the employees of these unfortunate business units would soon lose their jobs and their retirement benefits while their departments were sliced, diced and sold on the open market. This video is of course, one-sided propaganda (currently owned by Newt Gingrich), but I can vouch for the truthfulness of what Bain Capital Corp. represents to millions of people out there.

The Great Escape

I'm really coming around to the idea that cutting the banksters out of the deal, makes things a whole lot better. The US govt. should print money: period. No one else, especially private corps. like the Fed should be allowed to print money. The US people vote on how the money will be used. Banks are only allowed to lend money THEY HAVE (not like now where they "create" money to lend). This way, the US govt. doesn't owe anyone a dime for re-building a bridge or a freeway. We still have to pay back what we owe, but our creditors have a choice of whether they receive Fed Reserve Notes or the new US currency, printed by the US Treasury.
The banking industry was powerful enough to put itself in the middle of EVERYTHING in our lives. They got their cut of the stimulus bucks first when Obama wasn't even in power yet. When people tell me to "open my eyes," they usually mean that someone I agree with is imperfect. When I say "open your eyes" from now on I mean one thing, in particular to my one-tracked, fiscally-focused compatriots: 1) "Where's your money going?" 2) "Who's the man behind the curtain?"
What we have now: 1) The US government borrows money from conglomerated banks known as the "Fed" for anything it does beyond what is collected in taxes. When we need to print money, the US government borrows from the fed via Treasury bonds.
What we could have (and have had in the past): 1) Only the US govt prints money, and doesn't owe anyone a DAMN thing for doing so. 2) The people elect the officials and therefore participate in deciding how the money will be used. In time of economic downturn, my vote would go towards massive construction projects putting people to work making their cities beautiful and safe again. Others may vote for no taxes on anyone forever, but will hopefully allow that some money be used to set up decent healthcare for everyone and maybe a govt agency that keeps our food safe. Clean slate. Just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, we really do have everything we need to solve all of our problems. People just need to open their eyes.
