I don't expect anyone to believe me on any of this. I used to work at the Kon Tiki Hotel, on 24th St. and Van Buren in Phoenix as a young man, years before its final decline and demolition. At this time it was owned by Tom Carroll, a former Bozo the Clown of the Los Angeles kids show, who lived in the "Penthouse" room of the hotel. I did mostly bellman duties. I wore a Hawaiian uniform shirt, and answered the phone "Aloha Kon Tiki Hotel." One time, I got called to pick up a "Mr. Joseph Smith" at the airport. I drove the station wagon limo, complete with wooden Tiki Masks mounted on both sides, to the airport but didn't find anyone waiting except the Airport porters, who were all doubled over with laughter.

You can call me an ass for believing that health care is one thing that shouldn't be subjected to for-profit values. You can call me a Commie for believing that health care is one thing that govt. can do well. But, be careful when you call me a Socialist, because I have evidence that Socialistic systems work well IN SOME CASES. For example, the US Military is a "Socialistic" system. I am a military brat by birth. The military has it's own govt -run healthcare system that I used growing up. My care was always excellent, and some of the military officer doctors I have had were characters in my life that I'll remember forever.
Call me what you want, but I won't call you anything back. I'd rather fight battles with ideas rather than personal attacks. You can call me a Liberal anytime you want, because I am proud of that title(:

Mecham was just a dunderhead. Fife was at least fun (and still is) at parties. I've been Facebook un-friended by good friends in real life just for stating my opinion about Governor Brewer around the time when she was trying to deny those in need of organ transplants. These people had always been able to get the organs before. She is a destructive and divisive force, like GW was.
Enough of Arizona. I've been here over 30 years, and that's way too long for any military brat. I'm relocating to the east coast in a month and a half. If any of you Arizonans really give a $hit about AZ, you'll consider getting yourselves a new governor, and stop writing her a pass just because she's keeping you safe from the people who want to cut your lawn and sell you tamales.

Nothing could be further from the truth. government. is a tool of our own making. We can either make it into a tool which cuts our fingers off the minute we turn it on, or we can make it as elegant a tool to help us solve our problems as we we are willing to invest time and honest consideration. That govt. has morphed into a two-headed beast that has devoured many a nation shouldn't be at all surprising. Govt. is the fire from Prometheus, we can use it to our benefit or to our own demise.
Government is US. WE are government. We are not Pepsi, we are not Walmart, but we ARE our govt. and the tools we fashion in its design. And to relegate our entire political process to a stupid team wrestling sport, using the likes of Fox News and Rush Limbaugh as cheerleaders is a crying shame.

The reason we currently have no jobs with dignity is because large business executives can do just about anything they want. You may be one of the lucky ones who has a job in an operation where they treat you like a human being. I wasn't so lucky, but like a slowly-boiling frog, I didn't even know what was happening when I worked for "Sweathouse Intel" for 23 years. They had zero loyalty to me and allowed my manager to smear my reputation before wrongfully terminating me. If you think I should have sued, think again. Most of Intel's legendary legal staff spends their time fighting former employees, rather than pursuing patent litigation these days.
Large businesses today are kingdoms. CEO's are Kings and Queens. When a politician says that he will run our nation like a business, beware. That means he plans to be king. So as king he will run our country like a monarchy. Is that what you want??? I didn't think so.
My feeling is that once companies reach a certain size, and so much is riding on all the jobs they provide, we need to regulate them and take some power away from these executives. Why should they be allowed to be kings? We were supposed to get rid of that king and queen and lord and lady shit when we left sunny England as a people looking for freedom..

Taken from an actual Facebook debate. Identities were hidden to protect the innocent and probably also the ignorant. Sometimes there is a perfect moment. Sometimes that perfect moment occurs on Facebook.

When I was a corporate slave video producer at InHell Corp, I remember making a couple of talking-head videos about Bain Capital, and how they were going to escort a couple of our spin-offs into happy, healthy retirement pastures.
I was too worried about lighting and audio to realize that this project manager was handing Bain the keys to these treasure chests, and that the employees of these unfortunate business units would soon lose their jobs and their retirement benefits while their departments were sliced, diced and sold on the open market. This video is of course, one-sided propaganda (currently owned by Newt Gingrich), but I can vouch for the truthfulness of what Bain Capital Corp. represents to millions of people out there.
